Fort Atkinson Blackhawks

2009 - Boys Varsity at Fort Atkinson only missing two senior/starting players the 09 season looks very promising. Many schools the Blackhawks play lost starting goalkeepers, goal scorers, or just a lot of starters who graduated.

Fort will see the 5th top goal scorer in the Badger South conference Taylor Smithyman and 1st team all conference goalkeeper Sam Hartwick back in the line up as they were only juniors in o8.

It's possible for the Blackhawks to become conference champs in 09 but we can't rely on what the past info on rosters of other teams say. Every player improves, every team grows in one way or another. So there are planty of guys who have something to prove in 09.

In order for Sam to make 1st team again, he will need a couple more shut outs because I don't anticepate as many shots against us in 09

For Taylor to make 1st team, he must be in the top two in points from goals and assists. I think Taylor has a great chance to be the #1 goal scorer in 09 but then again, people know who he is and will be out to stop him.

There are a number of players who may get nominations in 09. Schwieger, Bump, Sherer, Cashin to name some of the players that we will rely on a great deal.

The 2008 schedule puts Fort in a tougher conference.

With the 2008 team having more experience by bringing
back so many sophmores (turning junior) things won't be any easier. 

07 games were close because we could keep the ball and go on attack. But we had a hard time finishing so the games final score didn't always go in our favor.

Missing a true goal scorer in 07 to give us the win or tie in our close games, this season we will hope to stop attacks and keep games close with defending.

2007 - (Old news) JVK Becomes Varsity Head Coach of Fort Atkinson H.S. boys. After some recruitment by the Fort Atkinson Youth Soccer Association, JVK had a couple of meetings with the FA High School Athletic Director in talks of maybe filling a coaching vacancy.

Much of the decision depended on FAYSA. What would they do for the future of soccer, or would keeping in contact with the younger players in the club, building a stronger beginning phase for each player to promote technical skills etc. 

FAYSA is looking out for the kids and has been making great strides to connect the youth players to the high school and now it seems it will happen.
